Garnet Wine Club

The Garnet Wine Club is a wine tasting event held monthly at The Garnet Pub, Norwich and is designed for you to experience wine on its own terms with a double-blind tasting hosted by Paul Francis Bryan.

What is a double-blind tasting you may ask? Well, the term itself means that no information is given about the wine at a tasting before you try it. This particular approach helps remove bias from visual cues such as the bottle/label, price, or producer reputation. It can help you determine what kind of wine you like or enhance evaluation skills when it comes to wine. It’s one of the fairest and most inclusive ways to asses and experience wine. 

We taste a variety of wines over the course of the evening making notes on the colour, smell, and taste of the wines, followed by a short discussion where we compare notes. We encourage people to speak freely about how they experience the wine during our sessions meaning that there is no right or wrong way, we then contrasted our findings with notes from the makers/merchants. Paul is on hand throughout for any questions you may have.

Now in its 3rd year, we’re continuing to build on our wine community and introduce some new elements to the wine club. A talk, some interviews with interesting wine makers, and chats with distributors who are changing how we consume and think about wine.
